3 Reasons Why Your Business Needs To Use a Digital Agency

We understand that outsourcing work which you believe can be completed in-house may not seem like a good use of valuable resources. However, the question must be asked, if you decide to keep things in-house, can you dedicate the necessary time to be successful?

Let’s be honest, digital marketing isn’t easy. In order to succeed, it takes time and effort, something that few businesses can afford on top of their core work.

Below we have outlined 3 of the main reasons we believe outsourcing work to a reputable digital agency (such as ourselves!) is a great use of your finances.

No. 1 – Reducing The Workload

All businesses are faced with one insurmountable issue – there are only so many hours in the day!3 Reasons Why Your Business Needs To Use a Digital Agency

Staying up to date with essential work can be tough enough. Adding additional work into the mix can be very time consuming and a distraction.

Outsource work such as website maintenance, SEO, Social Media management and content creation. You can then can focus on the aspects of your work which need your attention.

No. 2 – Reaching Areas Other Agencies Cannot Reach

Can you justify paying the money needed to access some of the more important tools relating to online marketing?

Simple economics highlight the fact that it’s nearly always far more economical for agencies to pay for the best digital marketing software and services.

Whilst any business can gain access to almost any online tool, digital agencies are able to offer the chance to tap into the best in class tools due to those same tools being used across a large array of clients.

No. 3 – Offering a Fresh Pair of Eyes

The truth is that your own personal perspective of your business and reality may not be the same thing.

Sometimes, a fresh pair of eyes and some outside input can help to take your business in new directions which can really push things forward.

An agency such as Footprint Web Design can help deliver a clear and fresh perspective of any business.

3 Tips To Help Maximise User Experience

The success of a website is always inextricably linked to the ‘user experience’ offered. By creating a positive user experience for visitors, you give yourself a significantly better chance of your visitor either becoming a customer or at least being prepared to visit your website again in the future when the time is right.

The creation of a website which looks great and is easy to navigate plays a critical role in offering a top user experience and below we have identified 3 of our top tips to help take the experience to a higher level.

1.    Don’t Confuse Usability with User Experience

A common mistake for many web designers involves confusing user experience with usability. Whilst they can influence each other, they are not the same thing.3 Tips To Help Maximise User Experience

To help break this down a little further, the fundamental difference is as follows:

User experience means that visitors to your website want to user it whereas usability means that a person can easily use it.

Although offering a good user experience is very important because it means your visitors will enjoy browsing your website, there are no guarantees that the site would be usable.

2.    Less Can be More

Cluttered websites can be a nail in the coffin in regards to usability. Too confusing, too difficult to navigate, contains too much information, are all common complaints. Any of these will result in a very strong chance that users will find their experience to be a poor one.

Minimalist designs often make websites easier to take in and use, increasing their chances of being effective.

Top Tip – Find the right balance by ensuring that your website does not make users search too hard to find information whilst not overloading them at the same time.

3.    Offer a Safe Browsing Experience

People are more switched on to the risks posed by ineffective online security than ever before. If your visitors have concerns about the security of your website, they will not make either online or in-app purchases.

Customers are quite rightly vary wary of having their data stolen when shopping online. For this reason amongst others, they are far more likely to use websites they know and trust to make purchases.

Take all steps possible to ensure that your website is as secure as possible.

5 Benefits of Responsive Web Design

It has been well over a year since Google announced that they were changing the way they crawl and index websites on mobile and smart devices. With the seismic shift in web users browsing habits (more people now use mobile devices to browse the net than desktop/laptop), this move was inevitable and has resulted in significant changes to web design practices throughout the UK.

Here at Footprint Web Design, we design fully responsive websites which are created to adapt to the optimum layout for the size of the device on which the website is being viewed. Essentially, this means that your website will fit any device which uses a full web browser, including:

  • Desktop
  • Laptop
  • Smart Phone
  • Tablet
  • Smart TV

If you are still a little unsure whether responsive web design can be beneficial to your business, we have identified 5 benefits that should not be overlooked.

Number 1 – Enhanced Usability

Because responsive websites display perfectly regardless of the device they are being viewed upon, they are far easier to use on mobile devices than ‘sites which are not responsive.5 Benefits of Responsive Web Design

Number 2 – Easier Maintenance

If you have a number of different websites which have been designed for one particular device, each time you wish to update your website, you will have to update each one individually. This will either be time consuming at best (if you are doing it yourself) or costly at worst (if you need to pay someone else to do it for you.

Responsive websites all run from the same CMS and therefore updating the main site will update all versions.

Number 3 – Removal of Duplicate Content Issues

Responsive web designs remove duplicate content issues.

In a similar vain to number 2, having multiple versions of your website that you have designed for desktop, tablet and mobile will result in different URLS. This not only makes Google’s life more difficult (along with other search engines) when it comes to crawling your websites, they will also see the same content on different URLs meaning duplication issues.

Number 4 – Increased SEO Benefits

Google has acknowledged that it gives preferential treatment to websites which are optimised for viewing via mobile devices via their mobile search results.5 Benefits of Responsive Web Design

Number 5 – Google Says it is a Good Idea!

“Responsive design is Google’s recommended design pattern”*

Whether we like it or not, Google really does call all of the shots when it comes to online searches. If they make a statement as strong as this, we would all be foolish not to listen!
