Becoming Mobile Friendly For 2019

The implementation of responsive web design techniques will ensure that your website will display and perform perfectly across a variety of different platforms.

Keeping up with the sheer number of different devices which can be used to a view a website is a difficult job. However, thanks to our ability to create responsive web designs, this is no longer the case. We can help your web visitors achieve the optimum experience regardless of how the visit your website.

As the user switches from their desktop computer to their iPad, the website should automatically switch to accommodate for resolution, image size etc. Essentially, we will ensure that your website has to the technology to automatically adjust to different devices.

What Are The Advantages Responsive Web Design?

  • Associated Costs: Responsive web design ensures that you only have one website rather than many.
  • Reduced Maintenance: Only having one website across all platforms ensures that you will not have to manage multiple web sites.
  • Consistent Experience: Visitors to your website should receive the same high level experience, regardless of the device they use to access it.

Other important advantages include the following:

Improved Search Engine Rankings

Search engines recommend responsive development for mobile website design and favour mobile friendliness in their search engine result page (SERP) rankings. Responsive sites have only one URL and the same HTML code across all devices which make it easier for search engines such as Google to find, index and organise content from a single company site than from two or more sites.  A higher ranking goes hand in hand with increased conversions. A single URL is also easier for users to share and link to.

Reduced Bounce Rates

Today’s customer is nearly always well informed. They will only stick to your content if it’s engaging and if what you’re offering is easily and quickly found. If your web-only site doesn’t translate well to multiple devices such as smart phones and tablets, you can as well forget about sales from numerous potential buyers. Research has it that a website that is not mobile friendly will have an immediate bounce rate of about 40%.

All in all, there can be little doubt that the creation of a responsive web design is certainly beneficial. With Google even penalising websites which are not responsive in mobile search results, we certainly recommend the creation of a responsive website for all our clients.

The Top 5 Ways a Website Can Benefit Your Business

Did you know that there are still a surprisingly large number of companies who do not have any type of online presence? Even some of those that do are yet to reap the benefits of having a ‘good’ website as opposed to simply having a website.

The creation of a top notch website can benefit your business in a variety of ways and to help you identify some of the more important benefits for any business, we have identified 5 of the more important ones below:

Benefit No. 1 – Establishing a Creditable Image

The creating of a high quality website will enable you to start taking steps towards establishing an online reputation and building levels of credibility through it.

For example, by providing a great user experience for visitors, you are likely to create an positive reputation amongst your customers.

Understanding the Importance of SEO

Benefit No. 2 – Excellent Method of Advertising

A website effectively acts as an online ‘shop window’ for your products and services, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

An attractive and effective website with good quality content (along with a bit of SEO magic) can result in new customers continuing to find your business, without you actually having to do anything!

Benefit No. 3 – Offer Easy Access For Customers

We all lead busy lives and there is a very strong possibility that many potential or existing customers may need to find out information but do not have the time to phone you to do so.

Without an effective website offering a comprehensive level of information, frustrated customers may feel as though they are being forced to go elsewhere.

Benefit No. 4 – Opening Channels of Communication

A great website offers the perfect way to interact with your customers. On the most basic of levels, you can implement easy to use forms and it a more advanced level, you could incorporate a blog or forum on your website offering a great way to communicate with customers.

Benefit No. 5 – Increasing the Reach of your Business

The creation of an effective website offers the opportunity to expand into new areas simply by promoting a new product or service, or targeting a geographic area which is covered by your business.

These are just a small number of the benefits offered by the creation of a website for your business, so if you still deciding whether a website is right for you, the time to make that decision is now!

WordPress 101: An Intro to Your Dashboard

You’ve got shiny new WordPress site, but how do you use it?

With such a huge variety of themes, visual options and add-ons, it’s no surprise that WordPress is nowWP Logo the most popular platform for building blogs and websites. It’s stylish, straightforward and simple to use. Over the next few blogs, we’re going to show you just how easy using WordPress really is. From finding your way around your dashboard, to editing images – and everything in between – we can help you take charge of editing and updating your own site.

Welcome to your Dashboard

When you log in to your WordPress account, you’ll be greeted by a screen similar to the below:

Wordpress 1

This is your dashboard!

From here, you can improve, update, edit and view everything to do with your website. You can even change the layout of your dashboard, to make things you use frequently easier to find and access.

Wordpress 2

In the top right of the screen, you’ll see “Howdy, (username)” – pretty useful to make sure you’re logged into the right site, with the right account. Just below this, you’ll see a link marked “Screen Options” (highlighted by the red arrow). This will allow you to Wordpress 3amend which boxes appear in your dashboard. By checking, or unchecking any of the boxes, you’ll be able to amend those that appear on the main screen of your dashboard – leaving room for those you find most useful.

You can also change the order of the boxes that appear in your dashboard, by dragging and dropping them. If there’s something you use all the time, and need it at the top, just hold your cursor on the title bar, click, hold and move it to where you want it.

To the left of your screen, you’ll see a list menu. This is your navigation menu. From here, you can do everything. Writing blogs, moderate comments, adding new webpages, etc. All things we’ll go into over the next few blogs. At the bottom of this list, you’ll see an option titled “Collapse Menu”. Clicking this will reduce your navigation menu down, allowing your main page to take up more room on your screen (particularly useful if you’re editing images). To reinstate it, simply click the right-pointing arrow.

In the next blog, we’ll cover creating posts & pages, as well as adding images to your image library. If there are any things you have queries on, or would like to know more about, please contact us and we’ll put that in the blog as well.
