Is It Easy To Optimise Your Images?

In a word – yes!! By simply following a few basic guidelines, we will be able to take the required steps towards ensuring your images work for you. Following a few simple guidelines can help ensure your images are working hard for your SEO.

  1. Choose The Right Image: Finding the most appropriate image is the most important part. A good imageΒ which attracts attention and describes itselfΒ can really do the job for you. Steer clear of irrelevant images – this can have the opposite effect.
  2. Utilise The Alt Tags: Alt tags display the text in case the image is not able to load in the browser helping users to know the details of the image. It not only helps the users but also acts as a base for search engines in identifying what the image contains. The Alt tag must be direct and succinct – avoid lengthy descriptions and keyword stuffing.
  3. Re-Name Your Images: Using a file name that is relevant but is none generic means you will ensure the right sort of traffic is coming across your content. If your file name is too generic, you may end up with non-relevant visitors to your site – potentially skewing your site stats. The above example has been named β€œHouses of Parliament at Night” – relevant, but not too generic a title.
  4. Re-Size Your Images (Where Necessary): Google considers the page loading time as one of the important ranking factors, which will be dictated by the size of the page (image file size, video size, etc). Optimising images in terms of size can really improve your site performance. File size depends on the resolution of the image, the higher the resolution the bigger the file size. So you need to maintain a balance between the size and the quality. There are different image types supported (JPEG, PNG, GIF) on the web, and choosing the best will depend on your requirement. Try and choose an image which is of good quality and has the lowest file size. Very high-resolution images will be huge and, as such, should be avoided.

Did you know that the use of images and the addition of the correct tags can play a crucial role in achieving excellent search engine results?

Search engines such as Google are trying to incorporate more images into their results and for e-commerce websites, in particular, getting rankings on Google images can offer a great way of drawing visitors to your website.

Why Is It Important To Do This?

  1. Search engines can detect an image but not what the image is. This makes it difficult for them to sort out images based on a user query.
  2. Images have now been added to the main page search results in GoogleΒ resulting in a potential for more traffic.
  3. Images can break up text blocks and are better at enticing people to your site.
  4. Images can also act as link bait if you allow image sharing in exchange for a link.
  5. Image sharing is more prolific among usersΒ with sites like Pinterest getting more popular.

What Do You Need To Know About New Facebook Pages

There are some fairly major changes with the new Facebook pages experience and below you can find out more about them all.

What features do I still have access to in new Pages?

  • You will still have access to the following features: Feed, Instagram account linking, advertising, monetisation, followers, insights, tools (such as Inbox, Stories, Groups, events), blue badge, and Page management by multiple people.Β See more available features.
  • Scheduling posts is not available yet on new Pages, but can be accessed through other tools. You can schedule posts to your new Page from Meta Business Suite and Creator Studio.

Who can manage my business presence with new Pages?

  • You can give Facebook access to people you trust to manage your new Page. This is similar to sharing admin access on classic Pages.Β Learn how to give Facebook access of your new Page.
  • You can also give task access to people to manage your new Page with tools such as Ads Manager, Meta Business Suite and Creator Studio. This is similar to assigning Page roles on classic Pages, such as editor, moderator, advertiser and analyst.Β Learn how to give task access to your new Page.

How can I open my new Page?

  • To open your new Page on desktop: From your home page, click on your profile picture in the top right. Select Switch Profile and select the new Page.
  • To open your new Page on mobile: From the Facebook app, tap on your profile picture in the bottom right. Tap on the new Page.
  • To switch back to your profile on desktop: From your new Page’s Feed, clickΒ , selectΒ Switch profileΒ and select your profile.
  • To switch back to your profile on mobile: From your new Page’s Feed, tap, tap … and select your profile.
  • Note: You will not be able to access your classic Pages from new Pages. Switch back to your profile to see your classic Pages.

What will happen to posts that I made on my classic Page?

  • All of your previous posts will be preserved on your Page, and insights will still be available for them.

Is there any content that won’t migrate with my Page?

  • Some of your stories may not migrate.
  • Information on your classic Page, such as contact info, may not transition. Your bio may need to be shortened. You can edit this information by going into your About section and editing the relevant fields.
  • Your messages, ads and other features from classic Pages will migrate, but may be in different places.

What happened to my ads and content when I switched back to classic Pages?

  • When you switched back to the classic Pages experience, content you posted from the new Pages experience was no longer visible. When you update to the new Pages experience again, content you created from classic Page will be preserved on your new Page, and content you had shared from your new Pages experience will be visible again.

    • Note: If you posted content again that was unavailable when you switched back to classic Pages, this content will appear twice when you return to the new Pages experience.
  • When you switched back to classic Pages, ads you created from the new Pages experience stopped running and saved in your Ads Manager account. Their data and insights will still be available, but you will not be able to edit or restart them until you return to the new Pages experiences.

How will people find my new Page?

  • Similar to classic Pages, if someone searches the name of your new Page in the search bar, they will be able to find you. Your new Page may also appear in the Pages to follow section.

What is a Feed? How can I set up my Feed?

  • Your new Page comes with a Feed that is separate from your personal profile’s Feed and is dedicated to your Page presence. Anyone with Facebook access of the new Page can access and view this Feed. If you have Facebook access, you can follow public figures, brands, partners and other Pages to curate the content that appears in the Feed.

When I had a classic Page, I followed other Pages. What happens to those connections on my new Page?

  • These connections will migrate to your new Page and you can see their updates in your Feed.

Can others see the classic and new Pages that my new Page follows?

  • The classic and new Pages that your new Page follows are public by default.
  • You can change this in your new Page’s settings.

All About The New Facebook Business Page Experience

The new Page experience is a way for public figures, businesses and others who want to build and connect with an audience to manage their professional presence on Facebook.

When you switch to the new Page experience, all Page content, including posts, photos, videos, stories and groups that your Page is an admin of, will automatically move to your new Page. All of your Page followers will also be transitioned to your new Page. If your Page has a blue verification tick, it will transfer to your new Page.

What’s new for Pages?

  • A redesigned Page layout that’s cleaner and more intuitive
  • Easy switching and navigation between a public-facing Page and an individual profile. Manage your Page and profile separately.
  • Seamless interactions with other public figures, brands and people via access to Feed: Follow other public figures, brands and partners to create a Feed with topics that matter to you. Stay up to date and connect with people and content on your new Page Feed.

    • Your new Page Feed will be separate from your profile. You can follow different Pages and profiles to curate a unique experience for your Feed on the new Page. Anyone with full control will see this Feed.
  • Actionable insights and more relevant notifications
  • Updated Page management tools: You can give others Facebook access or task access to manage the Page.

  • Content: Create, manage or delete any content on the Page, such as posts, stories and more.
  • Messages: Respond to direct messages as the Page in Inbox.
  • Community activity: Remove and respond to comments, remove unwanted comments and report activity on the Page.
  • Ads: Create, manage and delete ads on all platforms.
  • Insights: Use Page, post and ad insights to analyse the performance of the Page.

Instead, you can use other platforms from Facebook to manage the features that you have access to.Β Learn more about task access.
